Tisser des souvenirs entre violence symbolique et témoignage dans la dictature brésilienne de 1964 : une expérience du Piauí

This article analyzes the multiple dimensions of authoritarianism in Piauí during the 1964 civil-military dictatorship, highlighting the need to understand Brazil beyond its major urban centers. Drawing on declassified documents and militant memoirs, the article examines how political, symbolic, racial, and gender repression affected both opponents and civilians, shaping memories and social relations. Using Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of symbolic violence, habitus, and field, and Paul Ricoeur's memory and testimony, the research highlights the complexity of authoritarian dynamics in peripheral contexts. The qualitative methodology, centered on specific cases, highlights how the 1964 dictatorship attacked social profiles in local power structures and spheres, reinforcing inequalities and silencing. The study contributes to an understanding of dictatorial actions in remote corners of the center-south region, analyzing the marks of authoritarianism in Piauí and its relevance to Brazilian history.
