Ethics Policy

Commentarium: Journal of Humanities Studies (CJHS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. Our policies are guided by the COPE Code of Conduct, and the ethical guidelines of Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press. We focus on publishing high-quality, original research that advances knowledge in the Humanities.

All parties involved in the publication process — including the Director, Editorial Board, Scientific Advisory Board, authors, and reviewers — are expected to follow the principles of intellectual honesty, objectivity, rigor, and transparency.

Authors are responsible for ensuring their work is original. All sources consulted must be properly cited, and credit must be given to anyone or any institution that supported the research. Previously published material, whether by the author or others, must be clearly acknowledged and accurately referenced according to our submission guidelines.

CJHS actively screens for plagiarism. Submitting a manuscript that is not original, either in part or in whole, will result in immediate rejection. We reserve the right to use plagiarism detection software as needed.

Editorial decisions to accept, revise, or reject a manuscript are based solely on its intellectual merit, importance, and clarity, as determined by external reviewers with proven expertise in the relevant field.

To preserve scientific independence and the integrity of the review process, an author may not serve as a reviewer for any other manuscript in the same volume in which their work is being considered.

All submitted manuscripts are kept confidential throughout the entire review process. Personal data provided by authors is used only for evaluation, publication, and indexing purposes and is not shared for any other reasons.

Articles published in CJHS are licensed under the Open Access license CC BY 4.0. This license allows authors to freely share their work, including on personal websites and in institutional repositories.
